The purpose of the graduate programs in Halq鈥檈m茅ylem is to develop advanced knowledge and skills in the revival, acquisition, and use of this endangered language. Graduates will learn advanced research techniques for language restoration and acquisition, and develop skills and strategies for reviving the use of the language in society, including increased knowledge of the St贸:l艒 worldview.
The program will connect current Halq鈥檈m茅ylem teachers with prospective teachers, language revivalists, St贸:l艒 communities, local agencies, and schools. Through immersion opportunities, students will find ways to incorporate, promote, and sustain the Halq鈥檈m茅ylem language in their everyday lives as well in the classroom with each other, in the St贸:l艒 communities, and with St贸:l艒 people.
The graduate diploma will prepare students who want to:
Improve their fluency and proficiency in the Halq鈥檈m茅ylem language.
Contribute to the language revitalization.
Transmit knowledge and culture through the Halq鈥檈m茅ylem language.
Increase opportunities to share the Halq鈥檈m茅ylem language.
Immerse students within the Halq鈥檈m茅ylem language and the St贸:l艒 worldview.
Provide students with an opportunity to increase Halq鈥檈m茅ylem sustainability through innovative and creative development of language curricula or a St贸:l艒 community-driven language revitalization plan.
Entrance requirements
This diploma is intended for students who wish to complete it at the same time as they pursue another program, but students may be admitted directly if they choose. Students must ensure they meet course and program prerequisites.
Completion of the Graduate Certificate in Halq鈥檈m茅ylem with a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.00.
Bachelor鈥檚 degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.00 in the last two years of the undergraduate degree.
Exceptional admission/competency-based admission will be available in cases where students do not meet stated admission requirements. Applicants will have to demonstrate their ability to undertake advanced work in the area of interest, as evidenced by:
A portfolio containing evidence of a minimum of five years learning achieved in the field of Halq鈥檈m茅ylem language teaching, learning, or revitalization, with samples of:
Language resources or products, such as video and audio material, artwork, translation work, etc.
Language programs, curriculum, community events, interviews, stories, written work, reports, etc.
Work with linguists, educators, anthropologists, and/or ethnobotanists.
A complete CV/r茅sum茅 demonstrating interest and experience in language teaching, learning, and revitalization.
Letters of reference attesting to both academic and professional achievements in the field, and to the likelihood that the student will be successful in graduate-level studies.

Official transcripts (or interim transcripts) from all post-secondary institutions attended (excluding 麻豆传媒) showing grade/course achievement as per entrance requirements. To be considered official, transcripts must be sent directly to UFV from the originating institution; see the Transfer Credit section for details.
Applicants will be advised of an admission decision and, if accepted, will be provided with registration information. A deposit is required prior to registration (see the Fees and Other Costs section) and will be applied toward tuition fees.
Basis for admission decision
Applicants who meet the entrance requirements will be admitted in order of their application date. This date is set when an application, all required documentation, and the application fee have been submitted.
To maintain status as a program student and to continue in the program, students must maintain a minimum program grade point average of 3.00.
Residency
麻豆传媒 Graduate Studies policy requires that at least 75% of program courses be taken at 麻豆传媒.
Graduation requirements
Candidates who qualify to receive a 麻豆传媒 graduate certificate must be approved by the Senate. Students must apply for graduation in the first month of their final semester. The final deadline for students who wish to attend the June Convocation ceremony is April 1 of each year, with all program requirements completed by April 30.
